Pride Day. A poem.

Yes:
I know there are lots of problems with the Pride Movement,
especially in Toronto’s incarnation.

And I am not at the parade;
I needed a rest.

But today, I celebrate two truths from the Scriptures,
which I dare to claim for a tribe barely seen, barely intelligible,
barely recognized
in the Body of Christ:

“On this day, the Lord has acted.
We will rejoice and be glad!”

and

“Once you were not a people,
but now you are the People of God.”

Selah.
